How Spain Conquered the Inca Empire 🇵🇪

■ MACHU PICCHU, PERU: When Francisco Pizzaro and his tiny force of 187 men ventured into the mighty Inca empire they didn’t quite know what to expect. In fact they were woefully unprepared for what was about to meet them.

Had they known the size and manpower of the empire they were about to confront chances are they wouldn’t even have come in the first place. Yet within a few short years they’d achieved success beyond their wildest imagination.

So how on earth did the Spaniards dethrone the Incas from their empire when so vastly outnumbered at such altitudes and unfamiliar territory? That’s the story I will narrate today as I make my way down the slopes from Machu Picchu’s sun gate.
